We are currently seeking a Ward Nurse to join our Team.
We are looking for a compassionate, team player with a professional manner, a strong work ethic and high emotional intelligence to join our already amazing hospital department. The ideal candidate will join a team of experienced and committed nurses to maintain the well running and exceptional patient care of our patients in the department.
Job duties include:
- All general nursing duties inclusive of being efficient and confident in phlebotomy, IV Placement, post- operative monitoring, and patient admits and discharges.
- Management of hospitalised patients in your care under the guidance of the case veterinarian.
- Carry out physiotherapy for post-operative Spinal, Total Hip Replacements and Tibial Plateau Leveling
- Osteotomy (TPLO) patients in line with our in-house physiotherapist
- Maintain a high level of hygiene in all wards
- Undertake post-operative plans in line with Veterinarian’s instructions
- Working closely with our Surgery, Medicine and ECC departments, and management members.
About You:
- Minimum 1-2 years nursing experience in a busy general practice
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or currently enrolled
- in your Cert IV.
- Excellent communication skills
- Be able to communicate effectively in extreme situations with empathy, and calmness
- Ability to multitask under pressure
- Problem solving skills and proactiveness
- Attention to detail
- Compassionate and empathetic person
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Be available to work a 24-hour rotating roster from Monday – Saturday morning
Desirable Attributes
- Previous experience in a busy GP practice
- Sound medical and surgical knowledge base inclusive of terminology
- Knowledge of Ezyvet, VetRadar and laboratory machines but not essential
