Established in 2006, North Coast Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre is dedicated to serving the needs of Queensland veterinarians and their clients, offering specialist surgical and medical services. We also offer referral-only veterinary services in dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiology at the only dedicated facility of its kind north of Brisbane.
North Coast Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre (NCVS) provides comprehensive and first class care in the disciplines of orthopaedic surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, oncology (cancer), dentistry, medical imaging and cardiology.
NCVS occasionally performs elective mobile surgery at various practices around Queensland based on location, individual cases and the requirement for post-surgical care. As we believe all patients deserve the very best, we are very selective as to which cases we consider appropriate candidates for mobile surgery.
Our staff of over 20 includes registered specialists in surgery and medicine as well as veterinary practitioners in ophthalmology, cardiology and dentistry. They are here to provide the expert care your pet deserves when complex problems or emergencies occur.
We are the only specialist veterinary hospital on the Sunshine Coast.
All patients at North Coast Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre are assessed and treated on an individual basis. There is no ‘one fits all’ treatment plan and options can vary from conservative management with supportive therapy, through to complex procedures and surgeries. This requires expertise from multiple disciplines including high-level nursing care, intensive aftercare and rehabilitation. This multidisciplinary approach is well recognised and we believe every patient deserves the best chance to have their condition improved, resolved (if humanly possible) and hopefully an excellent quality of life restored.
A veterinary specialist is equivalent to that of a human specialist in that they have completed a rigorous training program under the guidance of qualified specialists. They have then studied for, and successfully passed, their qualifying exams. They usually have years of experience and decision-making in advanced and complex procedures that non-qualified practitioners do not possess. It is this proficiency and expertise that enables us to offer you and your vet the best possible service.

Vet emergencies are handled by our sister organisation – North Coast Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care – offering the only 24/7 dedicated emergency vet for Sunshine Coast pet owners. Located in Sippy Downs, the new facility and friendly staff are here to ensure the best outcome for your pets, providing veterinary emergency triage and treatment, along with critical care veterinary services.
